LGE to share Penang experience with Sabah

KOTA KINABALU – Lim is expected to share his views on the governance experience of Penang and how it would be relevant to Sabah.

The Topinai Strategic Research Centre has invited Penang CM, Lim Guan Eng, to speak at a public forum entitled ‘Penang Economic Experience to Sabah’ at the Pacific Sutera Hotel here on Tuesday May 29.

Lim is expected to share his views on the governance experience of Penang and how it would be relevant to Sabah.

Former Sabah Bank Berhad CEO John Lo will moderate the event.

Topinai Strategic Research Centre CEO Chan Foong Hin said, “It is vital that our people learn and as well as to share their views in the discussion of public policy, which is rarely discussed in public before. We will organise more of such public participation events on public policy deliberation.”

This is the second event organized by Topinai after its ‘Decentralization’ forum. There are more events to come which is related to public policies.

Topinai seeks to promote independent and critical thinking as only when citizens could freely discuss and reflect on vital issues rationally, only then the country could be truly reformed.

After Pakatan Rakyat took over Penang , the state coffer account deficits were overturned within four years under Lim Guan Eng’s government. The state achieved impressive annual economic growth rate averaging 8 per cent.

Lim attributed this to the PR government policy of openness in public tendering process and zero tolerance for corruption as good governance will attract public support and cooperation.
