About 300 settlers yesterday staged a protest to denounce attempts by certain quarters, particularly the opposition, to thwart Felda Global Ventures Holdings Sdn Bhd listing on Bursa Malaysia.
During the one-hour demonstration held at the Chiku Weekly Market here from 3pm, the protestors registered their support to the government over the move as they were confident of reaping enormous benefits through the listing.
The protest, which was jointly organised by the settlers and the Kelantan Felda Youth Council, was attended by Paloh assemblyman Nozula Mat Diah.
Speaking at the rally, Nozula said the settlers, including the second generation of Felda settlers, should deplore attempts by certain quarters to interfere in Felda’s internal affairs and sow seeds of discord among settlers.
Kelantan Felda Youth Council chairman Mohd Nor Fazly Mohd Daud said the council would intensify efforts to unite Felda settlers and dodge attempts to disrupt harmony in Felda schemes and squander the future of the second generation of Felda settlers.
He said the second generation of Felda settlers had benefited a lot from the progress brought by the federal government compared to the PAS-led Kelantan government.
