IRB warning over fake RM500-aid registration syndicates

IRB today reminded applicants of the RM500 one-off cash assistance for households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and below not to fall prey to fake registration syndicates.

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) today reminded applicants of the RM500
one-off cash assistance for households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and
below not to fall prey to fake registration syndicates trying to take
advantage of the programme.

Its public relations officer, Masrun Maslim, said irresponsible people have
started distributing and even selling false application forms while the
actual form has not been issued yet and the registration is free.

“The RM500 assistance application form is in the final process of being
prepared and it will be distributed to all IRB offices nationwide and
applicants can also download it from the website.

“The aid distribution mechanism has been finalised by the Finance Ministry
and, so far, we have not appointed anyone for the registration process,” he
said in a statement.

The 2012 Budget had allocated a one-off RM500 cash assistance for
households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and below, and potential
recipients have to fill a form at the nearest IRB office.
