Drowned siblings allegedly pushed into pond by dad

Three siblings aged between two and five were drowned allegedly after being pushed into a pond by their father in Ladang Lambak/Elaeis, Jalan Mengkibol in Kluang last night.

Three siblings aged between two and five were drowned allegedly after being pushed into a pond by their father in Ladang Lambak/Elaeis, Jalan Mengkibol in Kluang last night.

Kluang OCPD ACP Mohd Fawzi Arshad said the victims – two sisters aged three and five and their brother, aged two – were found drowned in the pond located 500 metres from their house.

“The three were believed to have been brought to the pond by their 29-year-old father on the pretext of taking them fishing at about 7.30pm,” he told reporters in Kluang today.

Police arrested the father at his house at a farm last night.

He said the man, who works at the farm, had consumed poison and was said to have been under the influence of alcohol.

He is now being treated at the Kluang Hospital.

Mohd Fawzi said the police, assisted by Fire and Rescue Department personnel, launched a search for the three siblings after being informed of the incident at about 10.20pm.

The bodies of the three children were found half an hour later.

“We are investigating the motive,” he said, adding that police had recorded the statement of the children’s 23-year-old mother and were in the process of applying for a remand order on the children’s father.

Police have classified the case as murder.
