The Johor Bahru Breast Cancer Support Group (BCSG) will be holding a fund raising dinner this coming August 19 at the Straits Garden Restaurant, Danga Bay, Johor Bahru.
BCSG president, Doris Boo, said, one hundred dinner tables will be put up for sale to corporate companies and well wishers who are supportive of the BCSG programme.
“We will be using the proceeds from the fund raising dinner to acquire a building to be used for BCSG activities”, adding she said, BCSG is currently carrying out its activities in one of its member’s premises.
She said, BCSG welcomes any contributions for the fund raising dinner programme which can be in the form of cash, sponsorship of souvenirs, sponsoring the dinner menu cost, taking up of advertisement spots and other appropriate contributions.
In 2008, BCSG did a similar fund raising dinner and managed to raise RM70,000 where the proceeds were used for the welfare of its members who are mostly cancer victims, she added.
Doris, also a breast cancer victim for over fifteen years said, she encourages and welcomes cancer victims to join as BCSG member where the membership is open to all races and the annual membership fee is RM10.00.
“To-date, BCSG has 394 members and through the various activities organised by BCSG, members will learn to reduce and manage their stress level”, adding she said, “members will then be less focus on their medical condition which can help in improving their wellbeing”.
