Majlis Bandaraya Alor Setar (MBAS) has promised to take aggressive steps towards making the city’s restaurants and hawker stalls cleaner and more hygienic.

Bandar, Mat Noh Ahmad said that these steps are necessary and vital as the level of cleanliness of certain food operators are way below standard.

He said that there are food operators who are of grade A (international standard) but only a handful.   Majority, unfortunately are still at grade C.  Sighting that this is far better than unlicensed stalls which are set up illegally, where the level of hygiene is atrocious.

Sometimes, the restaurant’s dining area appears clean but the kitchen and food preparation areas at the rear end were murderously appalling.
