Teach about HIV/AIDS in schools, says Marina Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR – Author and activist Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir proposed the introduction of comprehensive education in schools provide knowledge that can reduce the spread of HIV/Aids.

Author and activist Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir proposed the introduction of comprehensive education in schools provide knowledge that can reduce the spread of HIV/Aids.

She said that education plays an important role in reducing stigma, prejudice and discrimination against people living with HIV.

Education on HIV/Aids can help prevent new infections if the individual has the knowledge to protect themselves from contracting the disease and the virus, she said.

She also said that she has supported HIV/Aids education since she became president of the AIDS Council of Malaysia.
