Shrinking habitat causes mother tiger and cub into village, causing the villagers to live in fear.

DUNGUN – The residents of Kampung Jambu Bongkok here are asking the authorities to take action following the discovery of a tigress with her cub behind a rural clinic yesterday.

Effendi Husin, 39, who saw the tigress at 6pm while looking for leaves for his goat, said that he was afraid to go there again. Another villager, Jusoh Awang, 45, said since the discovery of the tigress, the villagers were afraid to use the road there.

“This is because more than 15 cows have been killed and devoured by tigers. I hope that the authorities will take immediate action,” he said.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said also expressed concern and hoped that theWildlife and National Parks Department would take proactive action. The Terengganu Wildlife and National Parks Department director, Yusoff Shariff said that they would set up traps to catch the animal this evening.
