He might be slick enough to break into houses without triggering the alarm, but the serial cat burglar never expected to be nabbed by police in his own house.
The cat burglar, who specialised in roof-top entry via the bathroom, was arrested by police when he returned home at 4am on Friday.
He was apprehended with foreign currencies worth RM10,000, seven pawn tickets and a string of keys.
The suspect also possessed a card which identified him as a Rela (Voluntary Corps) member in Kuala Lumpur.
Last week, Komunitikini published a photo of the suspect caught in action on closed-circuit video during a break-in in January.
Bandar Puteri Puchong police station officer-in-charge, Sergeant Mat Sood Mat Piah, said the suspect is believed to have committed 10 break-ins.
“We have been trailing the suspect for a period of time. We had already identified who he is, where he stays, and were just waiting for the right time to nab him,” he said.
It is learned that the suspect will be investigated under Section 380 of Penal Code for theft in a dwelling house.
Meanwhile, Selangor Community Policing (SCP) founder, Kuan Chee Heng, urged pawn shops not to accept items which look like stolen goods.
“If not the police will confisticate the pawned items once they nab the culprit,” he said.
He added that the SCP had given vital information to police which led to the arrest of the cat burglar.
