Police have detained a 38-year-old man in connection with a hunting tragedy in Kampung Parit Jono, Air Hitam, yesterday.
In the 3.30pm incident, the man and a friend were out hunting for wild boars when he fired his shotgun in the direction of some bushes where there were some movements.
However, the pellets hit Tan Soo Meng, 45, who collapsed in a pool of blood, fearing the worst, the man sought the help of villagers nearby to rush Tan, who suffered serious head and eye injuries, to the Sultanah Fatimah Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Muar police chief, ACP Mohamed Nasir Ramli told reporters at his office here today that the man became frightened by what had happened and had lodged a police report yesterday that he found his friend lying in a pool of blood in the forest.
He said police detained him to assist investigations and were classifying the case as culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
