Residents of Bandar Dato’ Onn, Tampoi are getting annoyed with the housing developer, Johor Land Berhad (JLB) for taking matters lightly on the reported poor security situation in the housing area.
Bandar Dato’ Onn housing area comprises of six hundred and sixty-one households with a residential population of three thousand and residents here are concern about the worsening crime incidents in their neighbourhood.
The chairperson of the resident committee, Lokman Md Dali, accompanied by nine other committee members submitted a memorandum of protest to Johor Land Berhad general manager, Mohd Razif Ab Rahim here yesterday.
Lokman said the purpose of submitting the memorandum is to express the residents deep regrets and disappointment over the lack of action by the JLB who is responsible for the providing the security services in the housing area.
He said, just four months in this year alone, there are already eight reported cases of housebreaking of which four happened last week and one foiled attempt just last night.
The residents wanted to express our dissatisfaction with the poor and disorganised security services provided by JLB where the security services are included in the sales and purchase agreement, Lokman said.
In the S & P agreement, JLB is responsible to provide security services for the house buyers for two years which will only be expiring in June 2012.
After two meetings with JLB and numerous written complaints about the security problems and no action was taken.
The security services provided is slackening by the day which has forced the residents to form a voluntary security r=team to patrol the neighbourhood.
He asked that a resident action committee be set-up comprising the residents committee members and JLB management to study ways to improve on the current security situation including scrutinising the background of the security company which JLB engaged.
Meanwhile, the managing director of JLB, Lukman Abu Bakar said that through the discussion that they had with the residents committee, a security action plan proposed by the residents committee shall be implemented immediately.
On top of that, he said, JLB will be setting up more security posts within the housing area and a new police station is being constructed and expected to be ready by year of the end.
With the improved security measures in place, the residents in Bandar Dato’ Onn will be able to enjoy a much more safer and peaceful living environment, Said Lukman.
