This significant increase can be attributed to the state government effort in spearheading the promotion in association with other agencies.

The other is the Legoland theme park, the first in Asia, spreading over seventy-six acres of land in Nusajaya and is scheduled for operations in September next year.

He said this year, the Johor Tourism department will add in several more categories in the bi-annual Johor Tourism Awards event which will include all tourism related industry players and also to raise the tourism standards in Johor.

With the current seventeen categories, it will increased to twenty-five, he added.

The department is now identifying and finalising  the panelist of judges for each category.

Hoo said, the competition will be open in Jun and all competition rules will be given then.

The competing participants will be evaluated thoroughly and the award winners shall be identified by end of the year.

The awards presentation will be held in January next year.

He said the award presentation event is one way the state government expresses its appreciation to the tourism related individuals and agencies  who have contributed significantly to the state tourism industry.
