A recent study noted that the average family income in Asap was about RM5,000 per year, mostly from selling food and vegetables, when the minimum for survival is more than RM16,000. As men have migrated outward to seek wage employment, the burden of labour for agricultural work has fallen on the shoulders of women and children.
Community church in Asap. One of the most consistent prayers of the congregation is for help to make the people of Asap, who have traditionally been hunters and subsistence farmers, better traders so that they can survive in their new environment.
