The silat masters were travelling home in a group of nine after a silat performance in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, when the van they were travelling in skidded and rammed a tree in Jalan Titi Haji Idris, Pendang, at about 3.30am.

Mohammad Zahir his father was active in the Rela Bakti Silat Association and played the serunai and drum during silat performances.

Che Ishak’s friend Johari Arifin, 54, said the death of the silat masters were a great loss to the Malay martial art fraternity.
