The construction of the new teacher’s quarters and cabin schools at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tangkarason has provided extra comfort to its teachers and pupils.
It was made possible under the implementation of the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) after the project was abandoned by the original contractor early this year.
SK Tangkarason is a primary school located in the remote area in Sugut state constituency and most of its pupils are from poor families.
A teacher, Johmen Masandu said all the teachers in the school had longed for the construction of the teacher’s quarters to be completed as they had been staying in old and dilapidated quarters.
“It proved that the government has paid attention to the poor infrastructure in rural schools and improved them through the NKRA,” he said.
The completion of the project was part of the NKRA projects lined-up inBeluran, involving an allocation of RM200 million.
Beluran Member of Parliament Ronald Kiandee, who is also Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, said the school projects were among those given the priority under the NKRA.
Other projects being implemented in Beluran under the NKRA included the paving of village roads, the construction of water treatment plant in Paitan and Kampung Botition in Sugut and the electrification of villages along Sapi-Nangoh road.
Kiandee also said he would continue to ensure that each and every village in the constituency would be provided with electricity, clean water and connecting roads.
