Senior Education Ministry officer charged with corruption

A senior government officer in the Education Ministry was charged for corruption at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court here yesterday.

A senior government officer in the Education Ministry was charged for corruption at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court here yesterday.

An assistant secretary of the human resource management division in the Education Ministry, Ahmad Kamal Alias, 49, was charged with nine counts of using falsified documents to corruptly procure RM324,000 two years ago.

He pleaded not guilty to all the nine charges.

The offences were alleged to have been committed on May 27 and May 29, 2009 at the Traders Hotel, and Classic Hotel and Sri Pelangi Hotel in Muar, respectively.

All the nine charges relate to hotel accommodation during the 2009 National Special Education sports competition.
