A proposal by a private company to hold an exhibition here on Islamic mysticism is to be referred to the National Fatwa Council.
Terengganu Fatwa Council member Shaikh Harun Shaikh Ismail said the decision was made at a meeting chaired by state mufti Dr Alias Abdullah recently.
He noted that the national council had rejected an earlier proposal by the company to hold an exhibition on “mystical matters”.
“Such an exhibition had been held in Brunei, but never in Malaysia. So, if it is allowed, it will be the first in the country,” he told reporters after the presentation of prizes to winners of a Quran-memorising competition.
Shaikh Harun said that Alias would raise the matter at the conference of muftis from all states to be held soon.
