The state library in Kota Kinabalu will be getting a new environment-friendly library costing RM18 million to replace the existing one which is more than 40 years old, said Sabah state minister for community development and consumers affairs Azizah Mohd Dun.
She said the construction of the six or seven storey building would start this year and is expected to be completed within three years.
“It’s time the present Kota Kinabalu is replaced, especially with now having become a city with an ever increasing population,” she told reporters after opening the Bandar Sri Indah branch of the Sabah state library, here today.
The Bandar Sri Indah branch is the first such library inside a residential area in Sabah providing 7,989 books and equipped with computer facility and free Wifi services.
