Katrina Loo and Previtha Rajah crowned Msia Tourism Queens

KUALA LUMPUR – The pageant had two categories – Mrs category for contestants aged 25 – 40 while the Classic category was opened to those aged 41 and above.

A 39-year-old remisier Katrina Loo competed and won against 10 other competitors from around the country for the crown of Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen International 2017.

The mother of two also won two other subsidiary titles – Popularity Queen and Best Host.

The new Classic Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen International 2017 was housewife Previtha Rajah, 42, and a mother of four children. She also took home three other subsidiary titles – Popularity Queen, Best in Cultural Wear and Best Host.

The pageant had two categories – Mrs category for contestants aged 25 – 40 while the Classic category was opened to those aged 41 and above.

The oldest contestant is 75-year-old Ng Hong Lian from Sandakan, Sabah who was announced winner of a special Senior Classic category. The mother of four children and grandmother of nine also bagged the Most Supporters subsidiary title.

“We often see many married women giving up their beauty to become homemakers. They deserve, regardless of their age, a chance to do what they love and display their individual persona, charisma, beauty and talent. We can still be a wife, a mother, a working professional and a businesswoman and remain beautiful,” said Sentinel Pageant founder and director Jenet Foo in congratulating the winners.

The former Mrs Malaysia World 2015 beauty queen and mother to two children was this year awarded ERM Beauty Ambassador 2017.

In addition to the pageant top five and special senior classic winners, a total of 17 subsidiary titles were also awarded.

Emcee and entertainment personality Datuk Mahadzir Lokman, supermodel Amber Chia, Mr Malaysia World 2016 Mohd Yusuf Tony, ERM Marketing marketing manager Alina Wang Yangzhen, Glitterama Ladies Charity Group founder and CEO Datin Maylene and prominent social figure and an icon of Ipoh Datin Janet Yeoh (mother of international film star Michelle Yeoh) were among 13 judges at the final.

Winner of Senior Classic Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen International 2017 is 75-year-old grandma Ng Hong Lian from Sandakan, Sabah.

Organised by Sentinel Pageant, the inaugural Classic and Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen International Pageant 2017 was held for the first time in Malaysia. The pageant aimed to promote tourism and give married women of great charisma and personality the opportunity to become role models and brand ambassadors to bring our Malaysia Truly Asia fascination to the world

Among the activities held were promotions of key landmarks in Ipoh in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017, and a Beauty & the Feast Food Campaign that showcased the finalists promote the country’s diverse cuisines. The pageant grand final was held the Shangri-La Hotel grand ballroom on 24th November 2017.
