Most children have boxes full of toys and as your children grow older and do not play with some toys anymore, instead of throwing them away, why not share the toys with other kids as not all children can afford to buy toys.

With this in mind Kuala Lumpur-based Pressto Asia, the leading dry cleaning company in the region has launched their very first corporate social responsibility program “Donate Your Pre-Loved Soft Toys For A Good Cause” to encourage donation of pre-loved soft toys to be cleaned and passed to Kiwanis Klang.

Present at the event were Phyllis Lai, CEO of Pressto Asia and Amanda Russell, president of Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation of Klang, ex-president Shirley Sobey along with June Yap, appointed Ambassador of the CSR campaign and three beauty queens who are ambassadors for Shine From Within, a personal coaching and training consultation company. Shine From Within one of the supporting partners of this campaign.

The beauty queens ambassadors in attendance were Miss Borneo Shine From Within Ambassador 2017 Kristin Kan, Classic Mrs. Shine From Within Ambassador 2017 Caseylina Dior and Miss Malaysia Shine From Within Ambassador 2017 Nicole Lau.

Combining their expertise in professional dry cleaning and their commitment as a responsible and environmentally-friendly dry cleaner, Pressto Asia is hoping the public can join in to contribute in sharing cuddles for the children and reducing waste by recycling.

The campaign organized by Pressto Asia jointly with Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation of Klang will last for six months from 19th April until 18th October.

The public is encouraged to drop off used toys at any Pressto Asia outlets and receive a 50% off on their next soft toy wash.

The cleaned and repackaged soft toys will be distributed to Down Syndrome children and orphanage children during three activities planned in connection with the campaign which are:

  1. Visit to Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, Klang Centre
  2. Children party to be hosted at RED by Sirocco Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
  3. Children Fitness party to be hosted at YOME Sports, Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City

Phyllis Lai said that the campaign is the company’s first corporate social responsibility program which is centred on giving back to the community. She urged members of the public to donate any used soft toys for a good cause.

“By collecting and cleaning the soft toys properly, we also aim to present the donations to the children in a respectful and dignified way. This campaign will run for six months and hopefully we’ll have more than enough to be able to give to every child. We sincerely hope you’ll join in and be a cheer giver too,” she said.

Amanda Russell expressed her gratitude for the project collaboration with Pressto Asia.

“We are very grateful and appreciative for the kind donations of soft toys. With Pressto’s numerous outlet locations, we’re confident it will be convenient for members of the public to drop off their toys,” she said.

Former Mrs. Borneo World 2015 winner June Yap, the appointed ambassador for the six months CSR campaign said she has always wanted to be part of the Kiwanis Down Syndrome charity platform.

“I am able to realise that personal desire by supporting this meaningful CSR initiative as ambassador,” said June Yap who is also the CEO and founder of Shine From Within.
