Forty people, including 16 children, were trapped by floodwaters for almost 15 minutes after heavy rain at the Multimedia College in Jalan Gurney Kiri this afternoon.
Jelatek fire and rescue services head Isa Ahmad said that 23 women and a man who are students were holed up on the first floor of the two-storey college building.
At the kindergarten nearby, 16 children aged between 16 months and four years were surrounded by floodwaters.
Firemen took all to safety from Jelatek, Chow Kit and Jinjang.
Isa said that about 50 cars parked around the building were submerged in water.
