Sarawak will conduct a perimeter survey of 107 areas covering 386,000 hectares of native customary rights (NCR) land, said state Second Minister for Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
“For this purpose, RM30 million has been allocated and a similar amount for next year,” he told reporters after launching the Sarawak Land and Survey Integrity and Innovation Day, here, today.
Awang Tengah said for last year, 27 NCR areas were covered under the perimeter survey and for now the process had been smooth despite the small hiccups. He, however, did not disclose the number of hectares involved for last year.
“We do face obstacles like the land owners being influenced by the opposition saying that the goverment wants to seize their land and other baseless claims,” he said.
Awang Tengah said to speed up the perimeter survey; NCR land involved in legal tangles would not be covered.
