Lee Xuan wins Face of Asia-Pacific 2019

KUALA LUMPUR – The 22-year-old model triumphed over contestants from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau

Chan Lee Xuan has a reason to celebrate with her impressive double award wins at the Face of Asia-Pacific 2019 (FOAP) model search competition grand finals held at Ruyi & Lyn Restaurant in Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur on May 4, 2019.

The 22-year-old model and talent from Selangor triumphed over contestants from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau to win the Face of Asia-Pacific 2019 model award.

“I was surprised when my name was called as I think everyone is good enough to become the champion. I didn’t really think about it before the finals of the competition. It turns out I actually won two awards. However, I will never stop improving myself as a model because I know in this industry, there will always be someone who works harder and better than you,”  she said.

The 173cm (5 feet 8.1 inches) tall leggy model had earlier scored a victory over 11 fellow contestants to win the Face of Malaysia 2019 model award.

“I want to become a successful professional model. It’s been my dream since I was a teenage girl,” said Lee Xuan, who last December 2018 graduated with a degree in finance and economics, dreams of becoming a professional model.

Hard work has clearly paid off for Lee Xuan and she is hoping for a bigger achievement in the years to come. With her double win of model awards, Lee Xuan is definitely getting closer to her dream.

Last year, Lee Xuan won the crown of Miss Malaysia Globe International 2018. Besides being the champion, she also won the Miss Body Beautiful subsidiary title.

The male winner of Face of Asia-Pacific 2019 went to Sam Lam Ion Sang from Macau. Over the years, the 185 cm (6’ 0.8”) tall model, who is also an athlete and actor, had won several awards in Macau such as Best Global Model 2017 and Best Catwalk Model.

As for the male winner of Face of Malaysia 2019, the award went to 18-year-old Leaf Yap Qi Zheng from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

“To be honest, I have never thought that I could win. I was vey shocked so you can imagine how happy and blessed I felt to win Face of Malaysia 2019,” he said.

The 184 cm (6’ 0.4”) tall SPM school leaver who aimed to become a professional model one day said he plans to continue his study either in a sports university in Taiwan or fashion design in Malaysia.

Leaf Yap enjoys hobbies such as playing basketball and listening to music.

Both Lee Xuan and Leaf Yap will represent Malaysia along with two winners each (one female and male) from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao to compete for the coveted title of Asia’s Next Celebrity Supermodel in the 2019 Face of Asia finals at the Asia Model Festival Awards (AMFA) slated for June 7-9, 2019 in Seoul, South Korea. The prestigious AMFA is touted as the Academy Awards equivalent to the Asian modelling and fashion industry.

This season also saw for the first time 20 girls and 10 boys finalists participating in the finals of Face of Malaysia Kids Model Search competition where the winners will join adult winners in Seoul, South Korea for The Asia Model Festival Awards.

The Celebrity Star of the Year Award was awarded to Amelia Henderson who will represent Malaysia to receive the Asia Model Festival Star Award in Seoul, South Korea.
