Japanese dancer Yuhei Ara holds workshop at Pesta Kluang 2019

Yuhei Ara, 33, a dancer & choreographer based in Tokyo, Japan conducted a workshop titled Dancing like Walking in conjunction with Pesta Kluang 2019. It was held at Dewan Jubli Intan, Kluang and attended by about 30 participants and some onlookers.

The participants of the workshop were taught on various walking techniques, letting loose & relaxed. They were also told to mirror their partner’s movements and to improvise within those movements by treating each other as their own image.

Ara is one of the six artists who had been invited for the artist-resident program at the Pesta Kluang 2019. Their work of arts will be showcased at Gunung Lambak Resort on 30th August till 1st September 2019. There will be a variety of original works involving natural materials coupled with the cultural & historical aspects of Kluang.

In addition to Ara, the festival will also feature South Korean Theater and Dance Director Kim Yu Jin and Singaporean composer and songwriter Ng Sze Min. Malaysian artists include Mahen Bala who is a professional photographer, portrait painter Lee Mok Yee and Teo Wey Herng, a writer, educator and multidisciplinary artist.
