Miss Nepal Priya Rani Lama, 28, a TV host, pageant choreographer and actress, won the Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019 title at the pageant final in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Malaysia on Oct 25, 2019.
Priya, at 170cm tall (5’7”) defeated her global contestants from 31 countries to the title and also won two subsidiary titles of Best Talent and Best National Costume.
She took over the Miss Cosmopolitan World crown from last year’s winner, South Korea’s Soyeon Lim.
As the competition whittled down to the final five, each was asked the same question during the Q&A segment to ‘Tell the world why should you be the next Miss Cosmopolitan World.’
Priya’s Answer: “I want to be Miss Cosmopolitan World 2019 because I support every woman around the world who believes in herself. It doesn’t matter you’re rich or poor, just follow your heart and be the best version of yourself because together we can change the whole world.”
Her wit and confidence when she answered was greeted with loud applause from the audience.
Miss Malaysia Christine Chai Xin Tze and Miss Netherlands Marit Beets, both 19 and students, were named first and second runners-up respectively.
Third runner-up was Miss Philippines Clarisa Maye Presa Isidro, 21, a territory manager, and the fourth runner-up was Miss Russia Ekaterina Veinberger, 24, an economist.
