The Federation of Sabah Hokkien Associations (Gabungan Persatuan-persatuan Hokkien Sabah) received an ‘ang pow’?of RM100,000 from the state government for it to conduct its activities, mainly community programmes.
Chief Minister Musa Aman said the contribution was in appreciation of the Federation’s ongoing efforts in helping the government ensure steady economic growth and social development in the state.
“The existence of this federation in Sabah since nearly four decades ago has benefited not only the Federation, but also the people of the state as many among the Hokkien community are involved in business.
“I hope the Hokkien community will continue to work together with the government to make Sabah progressive and establish a stable environment.
“This will surely make Sabah the choice for foreign and domestic investors to do business here,” he said at the Federation’s Chinese New Year celebration last night.
Meanwhile, the Federation’s President TC Goh advised its members to keep abreast of political developments and new government policies so that they would not be left behind in business opportunities and contributing to the state’s development.
