Nestlé recently feted 33 senior citizens of En Yuan Old Folks Home, Kampung Tunku, with a Chinese New Year treat as part of its commitment to positively impact communities in need.
There was much excitement as a group of more than 30 Nestlé volunteers
brightened up the home with colourful Chinese New Year décor. In keeping with Chinese New Year traditions, there was a lively lion dance as well as a Lou Sang toss to ring in the new year. As the evening drew to a close, the senior citizens enjoyed a delectable tea-time spread.
Ms. Nirmalah Thurai, Executive Director of Group Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Malaysia Berhad said, “Our Nestlé team is honoured to volunteer their time to usher in the Lunar New Year with the residents of En Yuan Old Folks Home and share the joy of the season. We remain committed to contributing to the well-being of the community and positively impacting the lives of those around us.”
Mr. Stanley Yap, Secretary of En Yuan Old Folk Home added, “We would like to thank Nestlé for taking the time to organise this special event. Especially since some of our residents are unable to travel or are without family, they are delighted to celebrate Chinese New Year in the comfort of our home.”
As an added treat, the residents of the home were each presented with a Chinese New Year Prosperity Bag which included various Nestlé goodies, along with mandarin oranges and ang pows. Nestlé Malaysia also provided contributions worth a total of RM31,088 to the home, which included a cash contribution of RM10,000 to aid with expenses.
The Chinese New Year celebration is part of Nestlé’s employee volunteer initiative, Nestlé Cares. The programme aims to instil a culture of volunteerism amongst employees.
