Malaysia to host I-Sing World Championship 2020 finals

KUALA LUMPUR – The international vocal competition is expecting to welcome participants from more than 50 countries this year. Last year’s world finals in Stockhom, Sweden saw participation from 47 countries.

I-Sing World Finals 2020 marks the first time that the final round of the international singing competition will be held in Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur city will be host to I-Sing World Championship 2020 finals to be held from Sept 11 to 16, 2020.

The announcement was made at the I-Sing World 2020 and I-Sing Malaysia 2020 press conference held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur on March 5, 2020. 

The international vocal competition is expecting to welcome participants from more than 50 countries this year. Last year’s world finals in Stockhom, Sweden saw participation from 47 countries.

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020, international participants travelling to the country for the I-Sing World 2020 finale will be taken on visit to numerous tourist attractions in the country and experience Malaysia’s warm hospitality.

Present at the press conference were Yuro James Tee (I-Sing World co-founder and president), Michael Samy (organizer of I-Sing World 2020 and I-Sing Malaysia 2020 and CEO of Rythymis Mine Studio, Romli Bidin (co-organiser of I-Sing and CEO of Creative Line Promotion, Elinda bte Zulkipli (ketua penolong setiausaha unit khas Visit Malaysia 2020), Mohd Zuhairi Ibrahim (bahagian pengukuhan seni dan budaya JKKN) and Samy Wong (technology and business solutions director of I-Sing World)

Syafeek Ikhwan, winner of I-Sing World Finals 2018 that was held in Paris, made an appearance at the press conference. He also performed the song ‘Jampi’ live at the press conference.

The I-Sing World Finals 2020 will be held at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur on Sept 11 – 16, 2020.

I-Sing is a worldwide competition which aims to promote singing talents in individuals who aspire to shine and showcase themselves on the world stage.

Malaysia’s I-Sing World local search will commence around the country on March 14. Audition dates and venues for the I-Sing Malaysia 2020 competition are as follows:

March 14-15                 Plaza Pelangi, Johor Bahru
March 21-22                 Mahkota Parade, Malacca
April 04-05                   Centrepoint Sabah, Kota Kinabalu
April 11-12                    Kuching, Sarawak
June 20-21                     Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur

The competition is divided into three categories: junior solo singers (aged 6 to 16), senior solo singers (aged 17 and above) and group singers (any combination of two to five singers regardless of age)

I-Sing Malaysia 2020 final will be held on July 4.

The winners of the I-Sing Malaysia 2020 competition will represent Team Malaysia and advance to the global final of I-Sing World 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, where finalists from around the globe will compete for the championship title.

The I-Sing World 2020 and I-Sing Malaysia 2020 finals in Malaysia are jointly organized by The Rythymis Mine Studio and Creative Line Promotion, and supported by Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

Australia, Canada, China, Cambodia, France, Finland, Greece, Guinea, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain/Barcelona, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE, Ukraine, Vietnam and host Malaysia.
