The ten finalists of Miss Grand Selangor 2020 contestants took part in a swimwear photoshoot wearing Bikini Malaysia swimsuit serving as a sponsor of Miss Grand Selangor 2020 pageant.
The dazzling swimwear photoshoot took place at Infinity Tower roof top swimming pool in Petaling Jaya on 8th March ahead of upcoming Miss Grand Selangor 2020 finale.
Miss Grand Selangor 2019 champion Haaraneei MK will crown her successor at the end of the event finale. Haaraneei is also the Miss Intercontinental Malaysia 2019 champion.
According to Miss Grand Selangor 2020 state coordinator Kingsley Tham, the contestants had started their preparations for the pageant final. They will be doing more practice and trainings during pageant week to help them develop their skills and perform with confidence at the final.
There would be a preliminary judging segment of the pageant by beauty pageant experts or former beauty queens.
The coronation night of Miss Grand Selangor 2020 which is scheduled to be held on 29th March 2020 has been postponed until further notice in accordance to the guidance and movement restriction order in the country to curb the Covid-19 virus outbreak as announced by Malaysian prime minister.
While there are others who may have negative perceptions of swimsuit in a beauty pageant, 21-year-old Guroreet Kaur @ Reeta, a telemarketer, said it was an opportunity for ladies to showcase their confidence and their bodies.
Speaking to Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY), she revealed: “I was 16 years old in secondary school when I wore my first bikini. My experience while on the bikinis made me feel very confident and empowered. Besides that, it makes me look pretty and feel sexy.”
The 165cm (5’ 5”) tall lass from Subang Jaya who previously competed in Miss Harmony World 2018 is working hard to make her body into top shape.
“At this moment I’m working hard practicing my catwalk, honing away until I have it polished to perfection. I’m also working out pushing my body harder. These are all challenging physically for me”
Reeta has lots of things she’d like to achieve or experience for her ambition. Air stewardess has always been a passion of her ever since she was a little girl. She used to have collection of cabin crew pictures from newspapers and magazines and used to paste them on the walls in her room and go crazy when she see them.
But her other ambition is to become an entrepreneur with big plans to open up a pet-friendly bakery shop/cafe business.
“I have this plan since few months ago and it makes me feel to do it eagerly because I love baking and I’m on my way to come up with a signature dessert,” she said.
Reeta enjoys playing around in her make-up which she started after joining the Miss Grand Selangor pageant and learning every type of makeup to present the prettiest face possible. Her interests include swimming and outdoor activities.
For finalist Meagala Kanesh, 24, a marketing executive, wearing a bikini was a big challenge for her as she had never worn one before. However she had turned that big challenge into her great accomplishment.
“I’ve never worn a bikini in my life, until this Miss Grand Selangor pageant. At first I felt a bit nervous but once I started to mingle around and keep practicing catwalk in bikini in that 5 inch heels, I learned to overcome nervousness and gained more self-confidence and self-esteem. I’ve become comfortable enough and now I feel good in it. I’m ready for swimsuit any time,” she said.
Meagala who stands 175 cm (5’ 9”) tall is competing in her first ever beauty pageant. She has spent time preparing for the final pageant and working on her areas for improvement like catwalk and pose. She has also been working out a lot on her fitness level at the gym.
The Rawang girl aims to be an actress or a model one day. She did get a chance to act in a Malaysian Indian short movie but due to her tight schedule for Miss Grand Selangor, she had to hold the acting for now. Her hobbies include reading news, socialising and dancing.
