CJMYAlice Minggu took to Facebook to share the story of how her pet dog, named Chiko, who died after fighting off a venomous snake that had crawled into her family home in Bintulu, Sarawak in Malaysia.
According to Alice, the snake appeared in the family dining room on May 16, when Chiko bravely attacked the snake.
Her family tried to pull Chiko away from the snake fearing his safety but to no avail as the dog refused to back of from the fight.
After some tussle, Chiko successfully managed to kill the snake but sadly he also succumbed to his injuries sustained in the fight.
The story of her pet dog’s selfless heroism went viral on social media after she shared photos of Chiko and the dead snake.
”He fought till the snake died and quickly moved over to our car porch and took his final breath.” she wrote.
Chiko had been with the family for six years. The dog was a local breed and was fiercely loyal to the family who adored him. Alice said it was a tragic day for her family as they suffered a precious loss.
“Many people claimed him as a very aggressive dog but yesterday he saved us but unfortunately we couldn’t save him,” Alice added.
Her emotional Facebook post about Chiko has gone viral on the social media as many netizens offered their condolences and praised Chiko’s heroics.
“God, I’m crying. Such a hero until his last breath. Rest peacefully in dogs’ heaven, Chiko,” wrote a Facebook user.
“Truly our best dog ever. You will be forever in our heart Chiko. Till we meet again in a better place. Goodbye and rest in peace Chiko,” Alice wrote in tribute.
