Malaysian hijab company Bawal Exclusive has made the most expensive hijab in the world featuring 7,513 crystals of various sizes. The one-of-a-kind headscarf named The Sparkle of Dream is valued at RM100,000 ($24000)
Haliza Maysuri, the founder of Bawal Exclusive said that the hijab was gifted to her company by renowned Austrian fine jewellery brand Swarovskiin in conjunction with the opening of the brand’s new premium boutique next month.
According to Malay-language publication Sinar Harian, the hijab however isn’t available for sale and will be displayed in the soon-to-opened boutique instead.
“A gift this expensive is a sign of appreciation from Swarovski as we are one of the world’s largest wholesalers of crystals,” she said at the launch event yesterday.
The event was also attended by Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) chief operating officer Christopher Wong. MBR recognized the luxurious hijab which took 320 hours to complete as the most expensive in the world.
“This marks a significant achievement for us as a local homegrown brand, to elevate our branding to the next level,” Bawal Exclusive said in an Instagram post.
Bawal Exclusive which has been in the market since 1998 hopes to become an international brand in the near future.
