Google Maps is returning to Apple Watch

Users can start navigating straight from their watch and won’t have to take their phone out with saved destinations.

When Apple launched its own Maps tool, Google Maps got sidelined until it was discontinued for the Apple Watch in 2017. It promised to be back and the time has finally arrived with Google bringing its maps platform back to Apple’s smartwatch after a three-year absence.

According to Google, the app will be rolled out worldwide in the coming weeks. It will be a standalone product available in the app store with car, bicycle, walking and public transport navigation.

Maps will also include directions on when to turn, instructions on how long to keep going and an estimated arrival time.

Users can start navigating straight from their watch and won’t have to take their phone out with saved destinations. While any route that have already been started on iPhone using the Apple Watch can be seen continuously.
