Nestle MILO UHT together with 99 Speedmart has announced a new partnership to expand the CAREton Project and recycle 400,000 used beverage cartons by end 2020.
The CAREton Project was launched in 2012 in a collaboration between MILO UHT and Tetra Pak to collect used beverage cartons to be recycled into ‘green’ roofing tiles and panel boards for the community.
This year, a pilot phase will commence with CAREton recycling bins in one hundred 99 Speedmart outlets in Klang Valley for use by the local community and customers.
Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad said, “We have successfully collected over 95 million drink packs since 2012 helping to build over 250 homes from this programme alone. The steps are simple, first – push the straw back into the pack, flip, flap, flat and drop it off at any of our collection points. With the support of 99 Speedmart, the network of collection points will widen considerably. We will continue to drive the recycling agenda forward to build a more sustainable future.”
Mr. Lee Thiam Wah, Founder and Managing Director of 99 Speedmart said, “We hope that this joint effort will encourage the community to start recycling their used drink packs in the CAREton recycling bins which will be conveniently located in front of selected 99 Speedmart stores.”
Consumers can drop off their used drink packs at CAREton recycling bins located at selected 99 Speedmart outlets in Klang Valley.
