Covid-19 halted Art of Speed Malaysia 2020

Art of Speed Malaysia 2020 postponed

Art of Speed 2020 (AOS2020) marking the ninth edition this year has been postponed due to the Covid-19 situation.

The annual event which showcased art in combination with automotive culture and the lifestyle of its enthusiasts was planned to be held on November 11-15, 2020 but has been moved to December 30, 2020 – January 3, 2021 when the situation allows, and will take place at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya.

“With the announcement of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) by the Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided to postpone the 9th Annual Art of Speed (AOS) Malaysia event to the 30th December 2020 till 3rd January 2021. The venue will remain at 1 Utama Shopping Centre as we feel their proactive actions and readiness to host the event has been exemplary,” Art of Speed Malaysia founder Asep Ahmad Iskandar said in a statement.

“Throughout this pandemic, we have been working behind the scenes with various parties to ensure our decisions are for the best interest of all involved especially with regards to health and safety. Unfortunately, Malaysia is now battling a new wave of infections and Art of Speed Malaysia has not escaped the impact.

“We can only pray that this new wave will soon subside and we can continue with our plans to support the various communities and industries that contribute so much to the socio economic fabric of Malaysia.

“We thank you for your continued support and hope we can once again meet in a safe environment and welcome the new year 2021 together,” Asep said.

AOS2020 was originally to be held on July 25-26, 2020 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS). Last year, AOS2019 held at MAEPS attracted over 55,000 visitors.

The date for the virtual finals of the 1st Hot Wheels Legends Tour Malaysia presented by Art of Speed Malaysia will remain unchanged on November 12, 2020 with the winner of the Malaysian die-cast toy car announced at 1 Utama which will also be streamed live on the Hot Wheels Facebook (www.facebook.com/HotWheels). Malaysia is proud to be the first stop in Asia for 2020 Hot Wheels Legends Tour.

The jury of judges from Malaysia and the USA will judge the entries real-time based on a set of judging criteria. The Top 5 entries will be on display at AOS2020.
