Teenage mother turning blind after squeezing spot on her face

Mary Ann Regacho, 17, is turning blind from a mysterious side effect after popping a blackhead that appeared on the side of her nose.

The teenager from Nueva Ecjia, Philippines who gave birth to a baby boy last year, thought she was having a pimple on her nose due to hormonal issues caused by her pregnancy.

She became concerned after it lasted for several weeks and decided to squeeze the spot. She then began to suffer from pain and swelling.

She described that the swelling spread across her face ‘like a balloon inflating’ with the lump having reached the corners of her eyes and obscuring her vision.

The swelling now has reportedly spread over the bridge of her nose to her cheeks and forehead.

‘I thought it was only a common pimple, but it hurt so much I could not sleep at night. I tried everything to cure it but nothing worked,’ Mary was quoted saying by Viral Press.

‘Now, I feel like my face will never be the same again.’

Mary initially tried herbal medication to cure the possible infection herself however nothing has worked..

She is unable to afford treatment as her husband, Albert Salles, works part-time at a neighbour’s farm and is without a steady income.

After almost a year of struggling with the painful swelling, Mary went to a small provincial hospital to have it checked.

However, the hospital did not have the proper equipment to diagnose her mysterious ailment so she was transferred to a bigger facility.

Her husband recently appealed to good Samaritans for help to raise funds as they are unable to afford the medical bills

”I want to ask kind people for donations so we can finally send my wife to a hospital.

‘We only earn enough for ourselves and our one-year-old baby so I can’t afford her medical bills.” Salles said in a video statement with Mary and their son sitting beside him.
