Poh Chung Wei, 28, from Kuala Lumpur and Cheah Yeng Yeng, 30, from Ipoh emerge champions of Jual Letop 爆单皇 King of Sales Burst!
The duo from Team Happy Shuang YY trumped 10 finalists to win the online Chinese reality competition.
The winning pair, both professional wedding emcees, took the chance to become ‘live streamers’ after losing their source of income from wedding events due to the pandemic.
“We were really surprised we won. We didn’t think that we could finally break the magic spell and become the champion.
“We strived to do our best in everything for this competition by utilising our connections and non-stop brainstorming to generate breakthrough ideas, innovating, even disguising and doing a lot of things with one aim that is to attract new customers and fans.
“This win is not just for us but also for our customers, vendors, sponsors, friends and family. We couldn’t have made it this far without their support and encouragement, thank you,” said the winning pair.
As winner of the competition, they share a cash prize of RM50,000, a trophy and a Kinohimitsu hamper worth RM559.
Organized virtually by hurr.tv, the grand finale of Jual Letop 爆单皇 King of Sales Burst! Competition was held on Facebook Live on July 24, 2021.
First runner-ups Team YY Channel comprising Christine Chan Yen Hon, 41 and Jessicca Yian Ooi Kah Ho, 32, both Penangites received a cash prize of RM 10,000.
Second runner-up Law Seng Hua, 29, from Selangor @ Lala and third runner-up Sem Mie Chen, 47, from Johor @ Goddess Kitchen won a cash prize of RM5,000 and RM3,000 respectively.
The fourth runner-up Chong Tee Yoon, 47, from Perak @ Melissa received RM2,000 in cash. All the runner-ups also brought home a trophy and a Kinohimitsu hamper worth RM559.
The top five winners also secured a one-year contract with hurr.tv as online hosts and live streamers for the soon-to-be-launched Bao Dan Live Mall. It is a one-stop entertainment and live selling platform set to launch in September 2021.
The participants were evaluated by a panel of judges which included Malaysia supermodel Amber Chia and TV host Madam Kee.
Contestants were scored based on four criteria, namely: their ability to generate sales on www.baodan.com.my, the number of views, creativity and hosting skills.
The contestants were tasked with promoting a particular service, product or brand on livestream via Facebook Live each week.
The competition which kicked off on April 29, 2021 lasted for 10 weeks. It started with 40 contestants with the judges bringing it to 20 for the semi-finals and to 11 contestants for the final round.
Former Chinese radio announcer and celebrity entrepreneur Jeff Chin was the main host and mentor while the final was co-hosted by Lizz Lee.
The Jual Letop 爆单皇: King of Sales Burst! was presented by MY E.G. Services Berhad. The sponsors of this event were Apotec, Dking, Dr. Clo, Ecobed, Harriston Chocolate, Kinohimitsu, Klozette, Koolit, Muca, Nutrifest, Beli by MY E.G.
