MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad (MR DIY) will be channelling essential personal protective equipment (PPEs) worth more than RM432,000 to 136 healthcare and emergency services centres across the country.

MR DIY chief executive officer Adrian Ong said the pandemic has been a very challenging time for healthcare professionals and has stretched healthcare services to its limit.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, we want to support the rakyat and the country in meaningful ways, and one of the ways we can do this effectively is to use our business relationships with global manufacturers and our logistics systems to ensure necessary supplies reach those who need them the most,” he said.

The collaborative initiative with Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) has enabled PPEs to be channelled through MR DIY’s logistics network to district police headquarters (IPD), health clinics, hospitals, and quarantine centres across Peninsular Malaysia.

MRA assisted in identifying the services most in need of help, and also coordinate the distribution of the supplies in Sabah and Sarawak.

“I’m proud of our logistics and operations teams who have made the distribution happen swiftly across these 136 organizations nationwide. We also thank MRA, who worked very closely with our team, in identifying the list of beneficiaries and facilitating the distribution in Sabah and Sarawak,” added Ong.

The MR DIY and MRA collaborative initiative is the 62nd CSR programme to date. Since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, MR DIY has actively engaged in various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to offer immediate assistance.

Ong added that the company has leveraged its direct relationships with local and global manufacturers, international logistics partners, and its in-house nationwide delivery network over the course of one and half year to ensure that essential supplies such as PPEs, face masks, face shields, disposable aprons and hand sanitizers reach healthcare frontliners, government bodies, non-governmental organizations and affected communities across the country.

In addition, it has also stepped up to support communities in need including those affected by non Covid-related disasters such as floods and other natural disasters.

MR DIY launched its “Stay Safe, Malaysia initiative in March last year to help Malaysians get through the pandemic crisis.

Its efforts include supply of PPE to frontliners, airlift of emergency equipment to Sabah, equipping police station counters with protective shields, donation of oxygen tanks to communities in need and organizing food aid packages for needy families.
