Street Food Festival and Restaurant Food Festival held during the whole of this month will be participated by 2,500 hawkers throughout the country.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said this was an increase of 66.7 per cent compared to last year’s participation where only 1,500 hawkers took part.

The ministry predicted that 600,000 people would come to the two festivals while last year’s Restaurant Food Festival drew 300,000 visitors, of whom 30 per cent were foreign tourists, she told a press conference on the festival, here today.

Dr Ng said this year, the ministry added five more programmes to the 17 programmes held last year by putting up 2,500 stalls, and would also promote three main dishes under the campaign ‘Fabulous Food 1Malaysia’, namely satay, ‘roti canai’ and chicken rice.
