Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) unveiled the finalists of the Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 pageant at a ceremony held at MyEG auditorium in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on March 29.
MUMO national director Datin Elaine Daly said after last year’s pageant was cancelled, they are looking for an individual who can carry the responsibility of representing Malaysia at the international stage this year.
“After sitting out in 2021, we are excited to present to you our finalists for Miss Universe Malaysia 2022, all exceptional individuals who have shown that they possess something special, that certain je ne sais quoi to stand here as a finalist of Miss Universe Malaysia 2022,” Elaine said.
“We are looking for that one special beauty who stands out among the rest, the one who possesses both inner and outer beauty, and most of all, one who can proudly carry the responsibility of representing our country as the next Miss Universe Malaysia 2022,” she added.
The finalists will undergo Bootcamp Week, a series of training sessions such as beauty makeovers, catwalk training, fitness sessions, makeup workshops, photo shoots, and a number of challenges.
“Our running theme, ‘Beauty Beyond You’ will also give the finalists an opportunity to shine a light on a social cause close to their hearts, using the Miss Universe Malaysia platform,” said Daly.
Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 pageant week and final are expected to be held this June. The winner will succeed Francisca Luhong James who was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2020.
She will also represent Malaysia at Miss Universe 2022 at the 71st edition of Miss Universe to be held at an undisclosed location toward the end of the year.
Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 winner will be wearing a stunning crown worth RM2.38 million by Habib Jewels.
In addition, she will receive sponsored prizes and stand a chance to become the Face of Habib Jewels campaign for a year.

Below is the full list of Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 Top 15 Finalists:
1. Ajunee Simreet Kaur Khangura, 20
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Ajunee is a 2nd year Law student who believes in making a positive impact on others. The 170cm beauty would like to advocate for the prevention of crimes committed against women as victims often tend to suffer in silence.
2. Annatasha Shanty Jeremiah, 25
Annatasha who is also known as Asha is from Penampang, Sabah. The 170 cm Project Supervisor is of Indian-Kadazan parentage. She is currently studying for her Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering on a part-time basis. Asha has had some pageant experience, after being crown as the 1st Miss Malaysia Eco Queen in 2016. She would like to use the Miss Universe Malaysia platform to raise awareness on cancer and highlight the importance of early medical screening.
3. Buganna S. Saravana Kumar, 24
Buganna, 168cm is a a Community Dietitian from Melaka who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. She enjoys cooking and loves to use her knowledge as a dietitian to make recipes healthier. Buganna who was a finalist at the Miss World Malaysia 2021 advocates for a healthier community and would like to volunteer at shelters with people living with HIV/AIDS to help improve the nutrition status of this vulnerable group.
4. Catherine Lai Hui Yi (Kate), 27
Catherine, better known as Kate hails from Melaka. The 168cm PhD holder works as a Research Assistant. Having had some pageant experience, Catherine believes that the Miss Universe Malaysia platform will enable her to bring others together for a good cause such as fundraising, something which she has personally done to help those in need during the pandemic.
5. Chantal Yuen Tng, 27
The 172cm Penangite currently doing her Master’s at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Chantal loves travelling to learn and discover new experiences. The recent pandemic hit her hard as she was released from her position as a flight attendant. Chantal admires the philanthropic vision of the Miss Universe pageant and would like to advocate for quality education for the underprivileged children do not have access to complete their education due to various reasons
6. Cheam Wei Yeng, 26
Better known as Lesley, the 166cm Assistant Manager holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical and Health Science from the University of Nottingham. Lesley hopes to use the Miss Universe platform to raise awareness on mental health issues as this is something most people are afraid to talk about.
7. Clarissa Tay Wei Qi, 24
Clarissa holds a degree in Mass Communications and is a Business Development Executive at an events company. The 171cm from Selangor believes the Miss Universe Malaysia can be a platform to advocate many issues such as mental health.
8. Joann Tiong Hau Ping, 21
Joann hails from Kuching and is an undergraduate majoring in Computer Science and Psychology at the University of St Andrews. Due to the pandemic, Joann took a gap year from her studies and started a small cookie business named Beverly Bake with her best friend. She would like to work with children facing poverty or abuse.
9. Kasshvini Mathuraiveran, 26
Kasshvini, 168cm graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Northumbria University, Newcastle. A Bharatanatyam dancer since she was 6, and a Certified Yoga Instructor she would love to work with the Women’s Aid Organisation to help other women to fight for their rights.
10. Kaverrna Nair Sukumaran, 26
Kaverna, 168cm, who hails from Selangor works as a Marketing Executive. She is concerned about how Malaysia is still facing inequality in education and opportunities and would like to work with Teach for Malaysia to help underprivileged students.
11. Phan Jing Mun, 26
Better known as Jingle, the 170cm finalist from Ipoh works in the finance industry. She lost two family members and had her graduation and internship disrupted due to the pandemic. After participating in five beauty pageants since 2018, she would like to give the Miss Universe Malaysia competition a shot. Jingle would like to advocate for women in need, in particular, those facing family violence.
12. Tee Wan Ying, 25
Standing at 176cm, Wan Ying comes from Mentakab and graduated with an honours degree in Psychology. At 17, she represented Malaysia in volleyball, and that experience taught her values like persistence, independence, trust and communication skills. Wan Ying thrives being in the limelight, and has participated in a modelling competition in 2018. Growing up with a family member born with Autism, she would like to raise awareness on children with mental disabilities, and the importance of teaching them life skills.
13. Thevambbikai G.K Kasinathan, 27
Theva who hails from Selangor graduated with an honours degree in Civil Engineering from a local university. Standing at 175cm, she intends to use her experience from competing in a previous pageant to make a stronger comeback at the Miss Universe Malaysia competition. Theva would like to uplift other youths and help them break free from their own fears in search of true happiness.
14. Varyne Foo Augustine, 20
Varyne is of Chinese-Indian ethnicity, and is currently pursuing her studies in music at the Freude Music Academy. The 170cm beauty from Selangor is passionate about singing, dancing and playing the piano. Inspired by her mother who participated in pageants in her younger days, Varyne intends to follow her mother’s footsteps and hopes to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams.
15. Wong Siu Jane, 25
Siu Jane graduated from The London School of Economics and Political Science in Accounting and Finance. Standing at 171cm the goal-driven and hardworking beauty from Selangor supported herself in her studies through part-time jobs and an education scholarship. Siu Jane who currently works in the banking industry excelled with record of straight ‘A’s in all major examinations. Joining Miss Universe Malaysia has always been on her bucket list and she hopes to use it to amplify her voice in generating awareness on the income/wage gap and vast disparity of wealth distribution in Malaysia.
