The Marine Operations Force seized contraband cigarettes worth RM345,600 from a lorry at Jalan Nenasi-Rompin near Pekan, early today.
In the incident at 5am, police came upon the lorry and ordered the driver to pull over.
The driver did as told but on alighting from the vehicle, he made a dash into the jungle nearby, Pahang Marine Operation Force commanding officer ASP Mohd Khairuddin Jamal said.
Police found 13,400 cartons of the contraband in the lorry, with unpaid taxes worth RM1 million.
