Dr Jezamine Lim, an all-rounder woman entrepreneur, received the Distinguished Woman Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Women Economic and Business Summit organised by KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific.
Dr Jezamine Lim who is the CEO and Co Founder of Cell Biopeutics Resources (CBR), was conferred the award by YB Datuk Hajah Zuraida Kamaruddin, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities.
A pioneer in the stem cells industry
Dr Lim, a pioneer in the Stem cells industry in Malaysia, is well known for her work with CBR.
CBR is a late-stage biotech company that focuses on commercializing scientific research work in Stem Cells and Regenerative medicine.
Dr Lim’s vision is to bring innovative, cutting-edge science and give patients hope by providing ethical stem cell therapy.
“This award is beyond my expectations, and I am very grateful and appreciative of such recognition by KSI. I hope to inspire women and girls to strive toward touching new heights and milestones,” said Dr Lim.
She also added that her work at CBR is only beginning, and she has ambitious goals.
“Congratulations to the other recipients, and let’s work together to inspire the next generation of female leaders to contribute towards the business community and economy and the social community, ” said this mother of three.
Dr Lim is the first woman to get a PhD in Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering at The National University of Malaysia (HUKM) after obtaining her MBBS medical degree in Manipal, India.
She is also an affiliate of the Young Scientist Network under The Academy of Sciences Malaysia, which comprises 225 of the best young scientists in Malaysia.
Philanthropy work
Due to her burning passion for philanthropy, Dr Lim co-founded The Hope Branch. The NGO has impacted more than 250,000 underprivileged individuals in Malaysia.
The Hope Branch was also part of the WhiteFlag (#BenderaPutih) Campaign during the pandemic and the rescue initiatives during the worst floods in Malaysia.
She co-founded The Joke Factory, Malaysia’s premier stand-up comedy venue, with Harith Iskander Productions. The outfit aims to uplift the life of Malaysians through comedy.
Apart from the recent award, she received the Entrepreneur and Personality Award by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Malaysia 2019 (Best New Biotech Company) and the Women and Girls in Science Icon 2019 due to her diverse portfolios.
She was also recently recognised by Cartier and Tatler Malaysia as one of the ten most influential women.
The World Women Economic and Business Summit
The summit, held on 14 and 15 July 2022 at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, aims to bring together women leaders, entrepreneurs, educationists, technologists and opinion leaders to discuss the changing role of women in economic development and business.
WWEBS also hopes to recognise and celebrate outstanding women entrepreneurs with the Business Excellence Awards and Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Awards.
