Police seized 1,260 “pil kuda”(psychotropic pills) worth RM40,000 and arrested a young couple in Kampung Tok Hakim, Padang Midin, here yesterday.
Acting on a public tip-off, a team of officer raided the house at 11am and found the drugs there, state narcotics criminal investigation department chief Supt Roslan Abdul Wahid said.
The man, 23, and his wife, 21, were believed to have turned their rented house as a distribution centre for the drug.
The couple had no past record and also tested negative for drugs, he said.
Police are investigating the case under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
