Selangor cancer patients can now get assistance up to RM5,000 through Bantuan Sihat Selangor (BSS)
State exco for Islamic Religious Affairs, Consumer Affairs, and Halal Industry, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, said the assistance would cover operations with a maximum cost of RM5,000 for each application.
During the state assembly sitting, Zawawi added that this initiative targets the lower-income group needing urgent medical treatment.
He also said qualified individuals could apply for assistance through the BSS website.
Earlier, Pandamaran assemblyman Leong Tuck Chee asked if cancer patients were given any financial assistance during the state assembly.
Individuals must have been born in Selangor or resided in Selangor for more than ten years to be eligible for the assistance. Their household income must be no more than RM3,000.
They are also required to submit the approval letter issued by the Ministry of Finance for Bantuan Sara Hidup.
Last year, Selangor MB, Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari announced that the state government had expanded the health financial aid scheme Bantuan Sihat Selangor to cover chronic patients, including cancer patients with thalassaemia.
