More evacuees have returned home in Kedah as the floodwaters continue to recede, with their number at relief centres standing at 22,825 this morning.

The evacuees are at 56 relief centres in the two districts of Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu, said a spokesman of the National Security Council flood operations room.

He said 16,760 evacuees were at 39 relief centres in Kota Setar while 6,069 were at 17 centres in Kubang Pasu.
Meanwhile, the Yayasan Prihatin Kemiskinan dan Pendidikan Kedah (YPKPK) has garnered RM150,000 worth of contributions for the flood victims in the state.

Its chairman, Zuraidi Rahim, said the aid was received from the Tesco, Giant and Mydin hypermarkets, Shell and the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry.

“We have gone to three quarters of the flood-affected areas in Kedah and handed over RM110,000 worth of the donations received,” Zuraidi told Bernama.
