i-City’s three month photography competition came to an end

New attraction including a 50,000 square feet Snowland to be opened soon

The three-month long photography competition titled ‘i-City: It’s always on’ came to a conclusion after the competition moved into the final leg last week at i-City, Shah Alam.

The contest which was jointly organized by i-City, Tourism Selangor and Canon Marketing started earlier this year to showcase the  talents of Malaysian photographers and for the public to reflect what i-City is through their eyes.

The competition’s top prize bagged by Wong Chew Long, including the best still photography under the Art and Technology category (Lighting Sculpture) in the i-City.

Bukit Lanjan ADUN and Tourism, Consumer Affairs & Environment exco, Elizabeth Wong; and representatives from i-City, Canon and Mastercard attended the award presentation ceremony.

“i-City is a great place to be. It’s very eco-friendly. All of the light bulbs, which light up the man-made trees here uses LED. It saves energy and emit less carbon,” said Wong.

According to Wong, i-City must continue their efforts in showcasing the place as one of Shah Alam’s tourist destinations through events and competitions. Indirectly this will help the state tourism to achieve its target of 5.6 million visitors by end of 2010.

i-City receives an average of 70,000 visitors a week, and the number is predicted to climb with the new attractions, which expected to be ready by end of this year. This includes a 50,000 square feet Snowland that will provide activities such as ice-skating.
