A strong 22,000 crowd!

ntv7 Yuan Carnival.

It was definitely a weekend to be remembered for 22,000 people who attended ntv7’s Yuan Carnival, held in SJK(C) Jinjang Selatan, Kuala Lumpur, last weekend. It was the carnival’s fourth stop this year, which took place on the 30th and 31st October.

Gracing the event was Guest of Honour, Deputy Education Minister, Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The two-day long Carnival, which starts at 9 a.m., is sponsored by Elken as the main sponsor and Celcom as the co-sponsor. Partnering ntv7 in this one of a kind carnival are media partners from oneFM radio station and Guang Ming Daily newspaper, as well as Batu District Chinese School Development Association.

Residents, parents, and school children stormed into the school hall as early as 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning, hoping to rub shoulders with their favourite personalities. Visitors were entertained by both local and international celebrities with a special appearance by popular Hong Kong TVB artiste, Kevin Cheng!

“I was here with my friends from 8 a.m. to meet our favourite idol, Kevin Cheng. Though he has his head shaved off, we still think he looks great,” says fifteen-year-old Ng Yen Ling.

“I think this community event is a good approach by ntv7 as a way to give back to their faithful viewers and I’m definitely coming back if the station plans to organise yet another carnival in Jinjang next year,” she adds.

The heavy rain on Saturday afternoon did not dampen the spirits of the crowd who was all eager to watch the superstar perform. Kevin who fall sick before coming to Malaysia, belted out two songs and kept the spirits high throughout his performance on stage.

“I’m often very thrilled when I’m in Malaysia as I know how much my fans in this country love me. I hope to make a comeback to this beautiful country whenever I can,” says Kevin.

An array of activities were carried out for the entire family such as games and food stalls, health checks, lucky draws, fun bids, and various performances offering a variety of entertainment and mouth watering cuisines. The fun bid, which starts from RM1, included items such as camera, mini home theatre system, printer, and many more.

A total of six competitions also took place at the school grounds, including colouring contest, 3 x 3 basketball tournament, eating competition, dancing competition, karaoke singing competition, and many more.

Some of the highlights on the first day were – performances by the Beautiful Gate and Mastro World Class Harmonica Ensemble, as well as meet and greet session with ntv7’s Mandarin current affairs community-based programme, “Finding Angels” and “Project Sunshine” hosts – Chan Wei Wei and Tiang Kah Chee.

More activities took place on day two as visitors were enthralled by some of the country’s most talented personalities which include – ntv7’s entertainment and variety programme hosts, Mayjune (Women’s Zone II) as well as William San and Hishiko Woo (Shout Out! It’s Showtime! Season 2) – as well as the karaoke finals!

Yuan Carnival also organised a Fun Ride around the surrounding area of Jinjang on Sunday, at 8 a.m., which attracted more than 100 participants.

ntv7’s Yuan Carnival has previously visited Klang, Ipoh, and Penang for its first, second, and third stop.
