The completed Iconic Point handover ceremony at Simpang Ampat took place yesterday.

The Iconic Worldwide Berhad (IWB) project is the first in Simpang Ampat, with semi-detached and detached shop offices with shared lifts.

The commercial hub will be the ‘go-to lifestyle and entertainment hub’ in Simpang Ampat said IWB managing director Datuk Seri Tan Kean Tet.

“Iconic Point spans 8.7 acres of land and features 49 freehold shop offices.

“It has a built-up of 4,350sq ft for three-storey semi-detached shop offices and a 5,556sq ft built-up detached shop office.

Tan also said that IWB is happy to have created the new lifestyle hub in Simpang Ampat.

IWB also received positive responses from outlets of international branches in Iconic Point.

Outlets in Iconic Point are The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Family Mart, CU Mart, ZUS Coffee, Secret Recipe and Watsons.

“This is the value we want to inject in Simpang Ampat as there has not been a commercial development such as Iconic Point in the area.

“The development also features a four-storey boutique hotel at the end of the Iconic Point belt.

Moreover, it is a where one can opt for a comfortable respite while still being within the vicinity of various amenities,” said Tan.

Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow, state exco for welfare and environment committee Phee Boon Poh attended the event.

Also present were Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad and Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik.

The market has seen a noticeable surge in consumer spending since the pandemic, said Tan.

“Malaysians are going out more often and opting for dine-ins.

He added that creating such a commercial hub would be the right fit for the growing demand for contemporary lifestyle spaces in the area.

“It is always our aspiration to be the first mover in bringing a new lifestyle experience to Simpang Ampat.

“Iconic Point will become a significant landmark and one of the key drivers for the growth of Simpang Ampat’s property landscape,” he said.

Chow extended his appreciation to IWB for choosing Penang as the preferred destination for investments.

“I heard that Iconic Point received an overwhelming response, with 100% of its units taken up in two days during its soft launch in 2019.

“This demonstrates Penang maintains a strong interest in properties among owner-occupants and investors.

Furthermore, according to Chow, the state’s resilience and growing economy are attractions.

He added that this is evident in a steady supply of properties such as Iconic Point.

“I hope to see Iconic Point emulate Icon City’s success in becoming a productive commercial centre.

Icon City is another project by IWB in Bukit Mertajam.

“After all, as I have said many times, the future of Penang is in Seberang Perai.

“Seberang Perai has a lot of potential in the economy, agriculture, and social development,” he said.
