Selamat Pagi Subang Jaya programme will involve more locations from next year onwards, said The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) mayor Dato’ Johari Anuar.

MBSJ rebranded the Car-Free Day programme into Selamat Pagi Subang Jaya (Good morning Subang Jaya).

The programme, which takes place on the first Sunday of every month, starts from 7.30 am to 11.30 am and includes many exciting activities for the residents of Subang Jaya.

Subang Jaya residents participated in the events such as aerobics, cycling, morning run and a brisk walk, street soccer clinic, martial arts demonstrations and many others.

Apart from that, the resident had an opportunity to chat with the mayor and discuss topics related to Subang Jaya city.

Furthermore, the event also organised a food fair and free health checkups.

In yesterday’s event, more than 1,500 residents participated in all the activities organised by MBSJ.

MBSJ closed the road starting from Persimpangan Jengka up to Persimpangan Persiaran Kemajuan for this programme to take place.

“Selamat Pagi Subang Jaya took place for the second time this month. We will host it in other locations if it is well received.

“We would like the programme to reach more people. This programme could also help MBSJ to examine and evaluate the infrastructure in the local areas,” he said at a press conference after attending the Selamat Pagi Subang Jaya programme.

Among the locations proposed for the programme expansion are Seri Kembangan, Serdang and Bandar Kinrara.

The mayor also said the MBSJ initiative is to achieve the carbon reduction target for Subang Jaya city.

The programme is also in line with the sustainable development goals; Good Health An Well Being, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action.

MBSJ is looking forward to implement a 45 per cent carbon reduction by 2030, as outlined by the federal government.

MBSJ’s corporate and strategic management deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said in a statement last month that the initiative will help to create a healthy lifestyle among the local residents

Moreover, he also said that it would reduce vehicles on the road and reduce the carbon release for the city’s future sustainability.
