Akmal thanked MBI, especially the mayor, for acting as an intermediary through the MBI Prihatin Program.

Akmal welcomed the efforts of any party to contribute through their respective corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

He also commended MBI’s initiative in sourcing donations and medical equipment through their relations with external parties.

MBI had successfully sourced two ventilators through donations and brought them down from Nanning, China. The ventilator was donated to HRPB to help patients with COVID-19.

Recently, the mayor explained that Ipoh City Council (MBI) will continue the MBI Prihatin agenda with an allocation target of RM1.5 million for 2023.

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the cooperation and support from local and international corporate bodies in making the social budget a success.

“For example, implementing social and welfare programmes to cover more of the target groups such as B40, single mothers, people with disabilities and the elderly,” he said.

He said this during the August Council Plenary Meeting and the presentation of the MBI Budget Year 2023 at the MBI Council Hall.

Furthermore, MBI also gave an injection of funds to each Council Member with an allocation of RM25,000 each.

The councillors will use the fund to channel it to their respective communities.
