Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir last night launched the Negeri Sembilan state anthem which was recomposed on the initiative and creativity of his son, Tunku Zain Al-Abidin.

The ceremony was held at a hotel here and was also attended by Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani, Tunku Zain Al-Abidin, the four Undang and Tunku Besar Tampin, as well as Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and other state dignitaries.

In his speech, Mohamad said the state anthem was recomposed because there were various versions of the anthem and there had been changes in terms of tempo and melody.

The Negeri Sembilan state anthem ‘Berkatlah Yang di-Pertuan Besar’ was composed by Sir Andrew Caldecott, a British officer who was then the Jelebu District Officer and the lyrics were written by Tunku Zakaria Mambang and had received the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, TuankuMohammad in 1911.
